Care guide
All moods by A pieces are handcrafted and made to last however they are delicate due to the natural materials used. To enjoy your favourite pieces for a long time and best care for your jewellery, please spare a little time reading this special care instruction. Here’s what we recommend:
WEARING YOUR JEWELS
- Think of your jewellery as the cherry on top of the cake 🍒 — it should be the last thing you put on before leaving, and the first thing you take off when returning home.
- Avoid wearing your jewellery when you’re doing exercise, cleaning, gardening, showering, bathing, or swimming in both chlorinated and salt water, and limit contact with perfumes and lotions. The reason for this is that exposure to chlorine, saltwater, freshwater, chemicals and acids in your daily care routine or your natural skin oils can cause damage to both plating and gemstones by dulling or eroding them.
- If salt water or other substances do come into contact with your jewels, please give it some TLC following our cleaning instructions below.
- We recommend removing your jewellery when sleeping to prevent mechanical damage and overexposure to your skin’s natural oils.
CLEANING YOUR JEWELS
- Please use the provided polishing cloth for cleaning your jewellery after each use to remove any natural oils, lotions or fragrances that may have come into contact with your item. Just be careful to never over-polish your gold plated jewellery to ensure you don’t remove any of the gold plating layer.
- To clean your jewellery more thoroughly wash it with warm soapy water then dry it using a soft cotton cloth. Place your untangled moods by A piece on a flat surface out of direct sunlight to dry completely.
- It is advisable to refrain from using dip polish or abrasive cleaners for your jewellery since these products contain harsh chemicals that can cause gradual damage to your precious items.
❣️ Please note – Everyone’s skin varies in PH levels. The oils in your skin may have a higher level of acidity than others, which may cause your jewellery to oxidise and cause discolouration.
❣️ Please note that all metals oxidise naturally with time and will require maintenance.
For this reason we recommend that you lightly clean each piece after each wear to remove any unwanted chemicals and ensure the longevity of each piece.
STORING YOUR JEWELS
- To maintain the best look of your jewellery, reduce scratching and tangling, please store items separately in provided organic cotton dust bags.
- Store your jewels somewhere away from direct sunlight and humidity (so your bathroom, for example, is not an ideal spot)
- When travelling, pack your jewellery with care into our cotton pouch or your favourite travel jewellery case (avoid throwing it in the bottom of your bag).
- Avoid banging your jewellery on table tops or against any other hard surfaces to prevent mechanical damage.
Our moods by A pieces are made to last, however, when they are handled without adequate care (excessive dropping, improper storage, extreme wear and tear) they are more likely to show wear over time.
